SHILLONG: The KSU has opposed the move of the State Government to extend the service of Chief Secretary WMS Pariat terming it as an ‘unjustified decision’.
Question the decision of the state government, KSU general secretary Auguster Jyrwa in a statement on Sunday said, “Even in the past, we had opposed any move to extend the service of any retired officers.”
According to him, this decision to extend the service by the Government is like demeaning the other IAS officers who are next on the line to take over as the new Chief Secretary.
“It also gives the impression that the other senior IAS officers are incapable enough to hold the post of the Chief Secretary,” KSU general secretary said.
Earlier, the State Government had decided to extend the service of Pariat for another six month. He was scheduled to retire on December 31.
