SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) women’s wing has pleaded for withdrawal of the MPDA imposed on its West Khasi Hills unit president Arphul Kharbani who was allegedly involved in setting ablaze the office building of the PWD Executive Engineer and District and Commerce Industries Centre, Nongstoin on September 23.
In a representation to Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Tuesday, HANM women’s wing said that Kharbani has been wrongly implicated in the case since he was in Bangalore for medical checkup during the time of the incident.
“To prove that Kharbani was not in station we are submitting his medical prescription, railway ticket, bank statement among other documents,” the HANM women’s wing said.
Kharphuli was arrested on September 26 last year by the Shillong Police before being booked under the MPDA.
