Meghalaya Crime Update

Murder

  • On February 7, Md. Mandol Sheik (27) was murdered by unknown miscreants in a labour temporary camp at Iongnoh near Mookaiaw (WJH).
  • Md. Abdul Mukit lodged a complaint at Khliehriat PS that on February 7 at about 10 pm, unknown miscreants murdered his cousin brother Md. Rahim Uddin (25) in a coal quarry at Sutnga Wailong (EJH).
  • On February 7 around 10.30 am, unknown miscreants murdered Madhav Das (28) at Amdobighat village under Umsiang OP (RB). The matter is under investigation.

Stabbing

On February 6 at about 12 noon, Sten Ryntathiang (75) stabbed his son Harding Nongsiej (32) with a knife at Mawtihkhar village (WKH). The victim sustained injuries.

Arrest

  • On February 6, police arrested one Bangladesh national Bipul K. Marak from the house of Solendra M. Marak at Darang Adu (WGH). In this connection, police also arrested Solendra M. Marak.
  • Carling Rymbai lodged a complaint at Khliehriat PS that on February 7 at about 11.30 pm, his son Dawhoi Lyngdoh (19) threatened his family members with dire consequences at his residence in Lumshnong village (EJH). Police arrested the accused.

Forest sold

Amris Ryngkhlem, headman of Moodymmai village (WJH) lodged a complaint at Jowai PS that on January  27, 2014, one Maham Kharlukhi, headman of Maskut village and Phranki Rynjah, acting Doloi, illegally sold the forest “Bankriah Umbluh” to one Kwa Kharbithai.

Rape

One Nicholas Nongrum (28) raped an 18-year-old girl at Sangshong village, West Khasi Hills  on January  10  at around 1 pm.  The  matter was reported to police recently and the accused has been arrested.

Theft

  • On February 8 around 7.30 pm, one Sumit Thapa (20) was apprehended while he was stealing pipes from BSF Campus at Umpling, Shillong. Police arrested the accused.
  • On February 7, unknown miscreants stole one motorcycle (AS-01MB-6586) belonging to Krishna Sharma from his residence at Khanapara (RB). Matter is under enquiry.
