Deacon Bivan R Mukhim SDB to be ordained priest

SHILLONG: Coinciding with the Platinum Jubilee year of the coming of the Catholic faith, the St. Dominic Savio Parish of Mawlai is proud to have the ordination of a Salesian Priest from the Parish. Deacon Bivan Rodriques Mukhim SDB will be ordained a priest of God by Most Rev. Dominic Jala SDB DD, the Archbishop of Shillong on February 16 at 9am.

He will be accompanied to the altar by his mother and relatives amidst thousands of faithful who will be gathered to witness this solemn occasion of ordination.

Deacon Bivan Mukhim SDB, a resident of Mawlai Kynton Massar will be the fourteenth priest from Mawlai Parish and a sixth among the Salesians of Don Bosco to be ordained.

He is a son of Late Dr. John R. H Diengdoh, retired Asst. Commissioner of the Customs and Central Excise and Metilda Mukhim, retired school teacher. He completed his Bachelor studies in Economics from Kakatiya University, Andhra Pradesh and his Bachelor in Education from NEHU. He did his Master studies in Communication and Journalism from Kannur University, Kerala and Christian Studies from Madras University.

He completed his B.Th studies from Sacred heart Theological College, Mawlai, before being appointed as the Associate Director of the Don Bosco Institute (DBI), Guwahati.

As Mawlai Parish is celebrating the Platinum Jubilee year, series of programmes were organized at the Parish level.

Competitions of various kinds were planned to mark the occasion. Sunday’s celebration of the Ordination to the priesthood will be the master of all celebrations.

The Annual Eucharistic celebration of the Parish will also take place on the February 16 at 1:30pm. The day will also be kept as an important day for the parishioners to thank God for the blessings that is bestowed on the parish and a day of prayer for vocations and for families, on the International year of the family.
