Problem in Delhi Metro train; commuters stranded

New Delhi: Traffic on the Jahangirpuri-HUDA RPT HUDA City centre route of Delhi Metro was on Friday disrupted after a train developed a problem in its automatic train protection (ATP) system during the morning rush hour. “A train at New Delhi Station developed a problem in its ATP system at around 9 AM and had to be removed from the tracks,” a DMRC official said. The train was removed from the track 15-20 minutes after the problem was detected, but this led to bunching up of trains on the route of the yellow line. Commuters travelling to their workplaces in Gurgaon were stranded during the rush hour as train services were disrupted. It also resulted in overcrowding at the Rajiv Chowk station, causing inconvenience to commuters. (PTI)

PM to shift to Motilal Nehru Place bungalow post retirement

New Delhi: A sprawling bungalow on Motilal Nehru Place will be the abode of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh once he retires after the Lok Sabha elections. The 3, Motilal Nehru Place type VIII bungalow, spread over 2.5 acres, was vacated by former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit recently. The four-bedroom bungalow with well maintained lawns and office space meets the requirement of a former Prime Minister. “Some work has to be undertaken at the bungalow before the VIP moves here and CPWD has been given the responsibility for it,” said a senior Urban Development Ministry official. With the allotment of a Lutyen’s bungalow, Singh and his wife would be entitled to occupy the house for their lifetime. Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP, is currently staying at 7 Race Course Road, the official residence of the Prime Minister. Dikshit has moved to a 2,000-sq ft, three-bedroom flat in Silver Arch apartment on Ferozeshah Road in central Delhi after vacating the Motilal Nehru Place bungalow. (PTI)

The complaint was filed against Tejpal and six others for possessing mobile phones inside the Sada sub-jail, which were seized during a routine raid of the cell on Monday. The police said that Tejpal had been booked under Sections 120, 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy), 130 (aiding other criminals) and 188 (violating jail rules) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 46 of the Prisons Act which could curtail facilities given to Tejpal. The 50-year-old journalist has been behind bars for allegedly raping a junior woman colleague during an event in Goa in November last year. Goa Crime branch has already filed a charge sheet against Tejpal for rape, outraging modesty and sexual harassment of a woman journalist. Tejpal has sought bail before the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court which would be heard on March 4. (PTI)
