3 HNLC cadres nabbed in city

SHILLONG: Police on Thursday arrested three newly-recruited HNLC cadres from Upper Shillong area. East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police M Kharkrang informed on Friday that based on the inputs that some youths had joined the banned HNLC and were bound for Bangladesh, police intercepted two vehicles (Sumos) and after questioning all the passengers, three of them were identified as HNLC cadres.
He also said that the trio identified as Tony Roy Pale (28) of Kyrdem and Shanbor Maring (19) and Kyrshan Khyriem (28), both hailing from Mawtnum, will be booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention Act).
According to Kharkrang, police operations are on in the border areas to contain the movement of any person who joins the banned organisation.
