SHILLONG: UDP will officially launch its election campaign for Shillong seat in the presence Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and also by roping in young leaders after the general council meeting of the party on Saturday.
Rio is the convener of the newly formed North East Regional Political Front floated by as many as 10 regional parties including the UDP end of last year in Guwahati.
A party source on Friday said new UDP office bearers will be elected on Saturday aimed at rejuvenating the party in the run upto the Lok Sabha polls.
UDP has decided to field its working president Paul Lyngdoh to contest the Shillong Lok Sabha seat.
