Traditional bodies meet Rahul

SHILLONG: A five member delegation led by John F Kharshiing, Chairman, Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya, had an interaction with Rahul Gandhi, Vice President, AICC, on Wednesday at Hotel Pinewood in presence of AICC leader Luizinho Falerio, Vincent H Pala, MP, MPCC President DD Lapang, and other officials

They submitted a note and copy of the ‘White Paper on Indian States -1950’, placed before parliament in 1949 and 1950, relating to the treaties of the twenty five Khasi States.

Rahul also interacted with the Chiefs on the Tourism potential of Meghalaya and enquired about the status of infrastructure in the tourist spots of Meghalaya such as Sohra (Cherrapunjee) and other places.

A note on these issues were submitted and Rahul assured the delegation that these issues would be properly examined and looked into.
