SHILLONG: Giving a new twist, an official source on Friday said an ongoing inquiry into a particular scam related to a scheme has resulted in someone involved in the financial bungling to take away the files belonging to the Forest department related to the matter.

As per reports, two files containing details of alleged irregularities in the implementation of the border area development programme have gone missing from the State Secretariat.

After the matter was detected, the Deputy Secretary to the Forest and Environment department, A. Nikhla recently lodged a complaint at Sadar police station about the missing files bearing No. FOR.76/2006 from the forest and environment department between 2006 and March 19, 2014. Police have already registered a case in this regard.

An official with the forest department on Friday said that a departmental inquiry is on related to the scheme and the matter was detected when the files were not available to the inquiry team to proceed with the matter.
