Manipuri new year day celebrated
Imphal: ‘Sajibum nongma panba cheiraoba’, the new year day of Manipuris particularly majority Meitei community, was on Monday celebrated with pomp throughout the state.
Official reports said people organised special feast and lunch at their respective houses and prayed to god to bless them on the occasion of the new year day.
They also offered special food and other items at the gate of their houses to god to bring goodness to their houses, reports from all districts said.
Reports from districts said people after having special lunch and feast at the respective homes would climb the nearby hillocks as a part of tradition and custom for which the government made elaborate security arrangments to prevent any untoward incidents in the militancy-affected state.
Governor V K Duggal and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh also wished the people a ‘happy sajibu nongma panba cheiraoba’. (PTI)
Nagaland imports livestock products worth Rs. 215.46 Crore
Kohima: One of the most meat consuming state of the country, Nagaland State imports livestock product worth Rs 215.46 crore, informed the administrative report of the Department for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry.
In his Annual Administrative Report for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry tabled by Parliamentary Secretary, Yitachu at the recently concluded Nagaland Legislative Assembly Session in Kohima stated that as per the Sample Survey Report of 2013-14, the State of Nagaland produces 63.10 per cent of its total requirement worth Rs. 1180.07 crore, leaving a shortfall of 36.90 per cent.
Out of this shortfall, the State imported animal husbandry products worth Rs. 215.46 crore in monetary terms. (UNI)
Women Empowerment and Leadership Summit to be held
SHILLONG: The first ever Women Empowerment and Leadership Summit – North East Region (WELSNER), will be held in Kohima on April 25 and 26 according to a press release.
This is the first such high level summit ever to be held in the North Eastern Region and the event will focus on promoting leadership initiatives, enhancing the skills to develop more effective leadership and decision-making by conducting meetings, sharing strategies and ideas, exploring business opportunities and build profitable professional relationships.
