MLCU Week ends in pomp and purpose

SHILLONG: Aurora 2014, a varsity week of the Martin Luther Christian University that started on March 29 concluded on Saturday with responsible amount of pomp and purpose.

Aurora with the theme ‘To greater heights’ was a week full of fun packed with different kinds of learning and creative get away for the students of this seven-year old university.

The hours of perspiring at the football field and the basketball courts paid off as the winning teams took the trophies.

Besides, there was the usual sporty activities including tug of war, cricket, table tennis and arm-wrestling.

This week-long event saw the creative juice of the students who put together a photo-exhibition, some of them displayed skills on the dance floor and the music was convincing.

Aurora event coordinator and university lecturer said, “Over the years, we’ve been précised in integrating fun and fundamentals. We wanted the students to find themselves through Aurora. This week has its own charm”.

Nothing beats the last day of the Celebration Week, though, as girls and boys walked the ramp to display their indigenous attire plus others’- it was the Miss and Mr MLCU Contest alongside the fancy dress competition.

Then the band arrived to energize and close the event with a bang.

The impeccable presentation by the band captivated the audience through the length of their act.

The closing ceremony was held in the presence of Chief Guest, Rev. R.G Laloo, Pro Chancellor of the university Dr. Glenn Kharkongor, Vice Chancellor RG Lyngdoh and hundreds of students of the university.
