SHILLONG: Even after nearly a month of hectic campaigning, the candidates contesting in the two Lok Sabha seats in Meghalaya seem to know no rest. They are going to be busy in their own ways.

The results will be known only after a month on May 16, but the candidates feel that that the wait is not too long.

NPP leader PA Sangma and sitting Congress MP Vincent Pala are getting ready to campaign for other candidates elsewhere in the country.

Even after the elections, the NPP leader Sangma is busy as he has to campaign for the candidates of NDA.

“I am leaving Tura on April 15 for campaigning for the candidates of NDA wherever possible”, Sangma said over phone from Tura on Thursday.

Asked about his analysis of the elections, Sangma said that the result would be extremely good for him. To a question on the high voters’ turn-out in several constituencies in Garo Hills where there is Congress stronghold, Sangma said,” We do not calculate that way.”

Pala is yet to make any final assessment of the polls.

“It will take two more days to get a final picture as we are still collecting the data”, Pala said on Thursday.

He said that there would not be any rest for him even after the polls as he has to campaign in Delhi and other states for the candidates of the Congress.

“We have been called to campaign in Delhi and other places for almost a month and moreover, I am also a member of the campaign committee”, Pala said.

He will be leaving for Delhi on Saturday.

UDP candidate Paul Lyngdoh said that he would continue to carry on with his duties as an MLA as usual.

“I would be meeting my party workers across the State. We are planning to review and strengthen the organization of the party in each and every constituency,” Lyngdoh said.

He also informed that the party was analyzing the voting trend.

“I am hopeful to get through,” the UDP candidate said
