Arunachal beat Assam 7-0

SHILLONG: Arunachal Pradesh got off to a smashing start by beating Assam 7-0 in the 20th Women’s National Championship football event in a Group D match in Golaghat, Assam, on Wednesday.
That was not the only one-side game, however, as tiny Pondicherry trounced Uttarakhand 28-0. Tamil Nadu drew 2-2 with Jharkhand in the other Group D fixture.
Meanwhile, in Group B, played in Dibrugarh, Mizoram earned their first point after losing their opener by drawing 1-1 with Goa.
The other two games in the group saw winning results for Karnataka, who thrashed Gujarat 8-1, and Orissa, who were 6-0 winners over Haryana.
On Thursday, Manipur will take on Uttar Pradesh in Group A, while Sikkim will face Bihar in Group C. Tripura, who lost their opening two games, need a win as they play Delhi, also in Group C.
