Eastern Command boxing begins

SHILLONG: The Eastern Command Army Boxing Championship commenced on Tuesday at 58 Gorkha Training Centre.

The aim of the championship is to form the Eastern Command boxing team to participate in the army and services championships.

Twelve teams from the Eastern theatre will be taking part and the final bouts will be held on May 17.

There are 10 weight categories and a total of 107 bouts in this championship.

Havaldars Suraj Sunar and Rana Bahadur Thapa and Riflemen Kishan Thapa and Bibek Subba are some of the participants who have made a name for themselves at national and international events.
