Three drown in State

SHILLONG: Two teenaged boys were drowned at Jingkiengiong river at Kyrdemkhla in East Khasi Hills on Tuesday evening.

Police said that two persons Pynkhrawlang Lyngdoh (16) and Balatei Marbaniang (20) drowned at Jingkiengiong river at Kyrdemkhla in East Khasi Hills.

The bodies were fished out and handed over to their relatives.

In the second incident, One Iainehskhem Lyngkhoi (35) of Rangblang Pambriew drowned at Kynshi River on Tuesday. The incident occurred at around 10:30 am.

Sources informed that Iainehskhem Lyngkhoi, a resident of Rangblang Pambriew, South West Khasi Hills District, had gone for fishing along with his friends at Kynshi River. While attempting to cross the river on a boat he jump from the boat in a state of fear and was drowned.

Eye witnesses said Iaineh was screaming for help, but no one dared to brave the strong current of the river to save him.

The body was retrieved on Wednesday.
