Owners want to export extracted coal to B’desh

SHILLONG: The coal miners of the state have urged government to allow them to export extracted coal to neigbouring Bangladesh as permitted by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

Stating this here on Monday, the State Co-ordination Committee of Coal Owners, Miners & Dealers Forum (SCCCMDF) general secretary M Kharkongor said a petition on this regard was also submitted to the chairman of the NGT-constituted committee headed by KS Kropha.

The response from the government is awaited, he added.

A delegation of the SCCCMDF) held a series of meeting with different coal traders’ associations of Sylhet in Bangladesh recently.
