GNLA offers Rs 20 lakh cash reward

Outfit offers money for assassination of district, judicial officials in GH

SHILLONG: In a first of its kind, the GNLA has issued a death threat against the Deputy Commissioner, the Chief Judicial Magistrates, the SPs, the ASPs and the DSPs working in Garo Hills, through a post uploaded on social networking site Facebook.

The GNLA leader who posted the threat on Facebook has asked the prospecting assassins to leave their details in the inbox of the account and has promised a cash reward of Rs.20 lakh to whoever kills any of the officials.

Meanwhile, police have taken the Facebook posting seriously and have prepared a special report which has been sent to the DGP.

Sources informed on Wednesday that all the district police chiefs have been put on alert and security of all the officials have been strengthened.

This is the first time that GNLA has given direct threat to the district and judicial officials working in Garo Hills.

GNLA announces Rs.10 lakh reward for info on police

A day after the State Police announced a reward of Rs.10 lakh for anyone providing information on the ten most-wanted militants operating in the State, the GNLA went a step further and announced a cash award of Rs.15 lakh for any person providing information to the outfit on police personnel.

The GNLA also provided phone numbers for people who wished to share any information about the police.

The outfit also warned people against providing any information to the police saying that they would meet the same fate as that of Josbina Sangma of Chokpot.

“This is not the first warning, but the fate of your lives lies at your hands. Whoever dares to do so will face the same fate like that of late Josbina Sangma of Chokpot who had dared to be a police informer leading to the arrest and killing of our armies,” GNLA commander-in-chief Sohan D Shira said in a press statement on Wednesday.
