NONGSTOIN: West Khasi Hills is gearing up for the Mawphanlur Autumn Lake Fest scheduled to commence on November 15.
Organised by the District Arts & Cultural Society, the festival is being held at Mawphanlur village near Markasa.
Mawphanlur is situated on the Mawthadraishan Peak which is the second highest peak in the State, standing tall at 1923 metres above sea level.
The Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills said that the event is being organized at Mawphanlur, a beautiful village located at such a great height and blessed with naturally occurring lakes, in order to promote tourism in the district.
The festival will witness activities like kayaking, bike racing, trekking, moto-cross, angling, rock climbing etc.
The government has also made ‘homely’ arrangements as far as accommodation of the tourists is concerned and a restaurant run by the Mawphanlur integrated village cooperative society will also operate during the festival.
The District Arts & Cultural Society has urged the people of the State and those from outside to take part in the festival.
