NES AIR organises Choir Music fest

SHILLONG: North Eastern Service (NES) of All India Radio, Shillong, organized a ‘Choir Music Festival’ on Wednesday at U Soso Tham Auditorium in which teams from Kohima, Imphal, Agartala, Aizawl and Shillong participated.

The programme started with a welcome address by A. Pariat who informed that NES, AIR Shillong, organized the function to celebrate the Public Service Broadcasting Day. The PSB day is celebrated to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s first and last speech from the studio of AIR Delhi on this day.

The first choir group tom perform was Nongthymmai Presbyterian Church Choir, Shillong led by Wanboklang Shylla.

It was followed by SNBA Choir from Agartala led by Sudhir Debbarma. Next on stage were members of Kohima Lotha Baptist Church Choir. The other groups who also performance included Rongmei Naga Baptist Association Choral group from Imphal, Jingiaseng Samla KJP Synod Standing Church from Shillong and Ramhlun South YMA from Mizoram.

Professor P. Shukla, Acting Vice Chancellor, NEHU, was the chief guest of the programme.
