SHILLONG: Congress MLA AL Hek’s comment about his political birth with the BJP has not gone down well with the saffron party’s State unit. State BJP General Secretary, Dipayan Chakraborty has slammed the former BJP MLA, Hek for his remark.
Speaking to reporters here on Saturday Chakraborty said that the statement made by Hek clearly reflects that he has joined politics not for serving people but for his own gain.
“Politics is a matter of principle and not about parents and marriages,” Chakraborty said.
Hek, a former BJP leader, joined Congress in July 2009 and was subsequently accommodated in the Congress-led ministry.
Earlier, Hek had brought a parallelism between the BJP and the Congress as far as his stand on the both parties are concerned by saying that while his political birth was with the BJP, he is still a Congress man.
“Though I am married to the Congress, is there any problem to meet my parents since my political birth was with the BJP,” Hek had said.
