Demand for constitutional rights of OBCs

SHILLONG: Lok Janshakti Party has asked Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to take remedial steps to restore the constitutional rights and privileges to the people of OBC who are domiciled in the state.

In a memorandum, the party general secretary RG Pradhan said that the state was issuing certificates of OBC till 2006 but since then, it was discontinued for reasons best known to the Government.

Stating that the matter was pursued with the Social Welfare department on several occasion, Pradhan however rued that there has been no response from the Government on its recent pleas.
