Meghalaya Day awardees named

SHILLONG: The State government has announced the names of the recipients of this year’s Meghalaya Day Awards.
The Tirot Sing Award for Arts and Literature will be given to eminent writer and historian Rev Dr Overland Snaitang while the Pa Togan Sangma Award for social service will be bestowed upon Rev. Greater Burn R. Marak, an MPS officer who served the State police for nine years.
After resigning from the police department, Rev. Marak  started devoting time  for social work.
The U Kiang Nangbah award for sports will be given to Bansaralin Dhar, a promising archery player. Dhar has participated in several national and international events and brought laurels to the country as well as the state.
The names were recommended by the advisory committee headed by chief secretary PBO Warjri.
