Known for making potboilers like Dabangg and its sequel, actor-turned-filmmaker Arbaaz Khan says he would loved to make a film on the lines of PK, which is both entertaining and gives a social message.
Arbaaz’s third film as a producer Dolly Ki Doli is a romantic comedy about a runaway bride, who cons grooms. The movie has been directed by debutant Abhishek Dogra and stars Sonam Kapoor, Pulkit Samrat, Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma. “This is just my third film as a producer.
I would love to do a social issue based film which has a message… something on the lines of ‘PK’, ‘Munnabhai’ series, ‘OMG’. If I come across some script like that I will definitely do it,” Arbaaz said during a promotional event for ‘Dolly Ki Dolly’ here on Friday night.
Last two films that Arbaaz produced featured his brother Salman Khan. However, his third venture does not star the Bollywood superstar and Arbaaz cited lack of suitability behind Salman’s absence from Dolly Ki Doli.”Our intention has always been to make a good film. This film didn’t require him. It would have been lopsided with him. These people  are perfect for the film as they fit into the characters very well,” the 47-year-old director-producer said.
Even though Salman may not be a part of his Arbaaz’s third project, the filmmaker has roped in his wife Malaika Arora Khan for an item song in ‘Dolly’.
Whenever we have included her, it was because of the requirement. This song Fashion Khatam required someone like her and I am saying this as a producer and not as a husband. She was perfect for the song,” he said. ‘Dolly Ki Doli’ hits theatres on Friday. (PTI)
