U-19 I-League

SHILLONG: A dominant Royal Wahingdoh FC was on Wednesday held 1-1 by Aizawl FC in their first match of the U-19 I-League in Aizawl on Wednesday.
Mebanshan Suting netted the solitary goal for the Royals after a well taken Kitboklang Pale free kick. Suting tapped the ball in to cancel Aizawl FC’s first half goal.
Earlier, Jerry and Zuala missed two chances inside the box in the first 15 minutes allowing Aizawl to get back into the match. However, the Royals rallied to restore parity post the hour mark.
It could have been 2-1 for Wahingdoh if not for a missed chance Mebanshan towards the fag end of the match.
Meanwhile, the Shillong Lajong Junior Boys played out a goalless draw against Chanmari FC in the opening match of the U-19 I-League at the Lammual Stadium in Aizawl.
The wasteful Junior Reds failed to convert any of the openings created.
Coach Alison Kharsyntiew said, “The boys tried their best and gave a good perormance in the first match but they need to deliver a much stronger performace in the next match. They have to convert their chances and not waste any opportunity that comes their way.”
Lajong will now take on Aizawl FC on Saturday.
