Headman killed in Jaintia Hills

JOWAI: The headman of Ringkyrtein village in Khanduli area of West Jaintia Hills was allegedly murdered by unknown miscreants.
The body of the headman, Clement Dkhar was recovered from a place called Bathang Synrang half way between Sanaro and Namdong village. Police informed that he was brutally murdered by miscreants and later they tried to conceal his body.
According to police, Dkhar was reportedly missing from the village since Monday evening. The villagers and his relatives suspected that he was kidnapped by a group of miscreants from the same village.
A search conducted by the village dorbar along with his relatives yielded a vehicle (Mahindra Pick Up) with blood stains at Nongjngi village. It is suspected that the vehicle was used for kidnapping and later the miscreants killed him inside the vehicle.
The matter was reported to the police and on Wednesday, and his body was recovered and brought to District Civil Hospital, Ialong for autopsy.
This is the second incident of attack against headman of Ringkyrtein village.
Earlier in 2013, Chairman Diengdoh, the headman of the village was killed by miscreants.
Police suspect that the murder was a case of revenge for the murder of the previous headman.
