Fire claims one in Jaintia Hills

JOWAI: A man identified as Bornly Shylla (54) of Wahiajer village in West Jaintia Hills District was reportedly charred to death when a cowshed caught fire on Sunday night.
According to police, the man was asleep inside the cowshed when the incident took place.
In another incident, 4 shops and a house were gutted in  a devastating fire on Saturday night at Lumshnong village in East Jaintia Hills. According to the village Secretary, the damages were estimated at over Rs. 10 lakh.
Rape attempt: A person identified as Bhoj Bh. Sunar has been arrested after he allegedly tried to rape a minor girl. The arrest was made on the basis of a complaint lodged by the mother of nine-year-old girl. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 4 of POCS
