Drinking Water, Sanitation Awareness Week observed

GUWAHATI: The students along with the faculty of the Department of Public Administration and Department of Rural Development of University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya organized an Awareness Camp on the occasion of ‘National Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Awareness Week 16th – 22nd March 2015’, at Jorbil village, in Baridua, Ri-Bhoi District Meghalaya on Wednesday.
In this awareness camp the students interacted with the villagers and shared with them tips on leading a clean and hygienic life.The students of the University had  acumen about the problems related to Sanitation, Hygiene, Health and Drinking Water in the village through the field visits they made to Jorbill.
There were four interactional groups of students who actively participated in helping the community of people living at Jorbil to find out the solutions from various barriers of above mentioned related problems in their localities.
It was an opportune time wherein the villagers took a lead role with prepared minds to be present in the camp to rediscover and get equipped with the available resources at their disposal to tackle various problems.
