SHILLONG: Women and youth organizations of Tynring village have accused former Sordar of Shnat Raid Tynring village, C.A. Diengdoh, of misusing funds from Centrally-sponsored schemes implemented in the village.
Referring to RTI documents they had received from the office of the Mawryngkneng C&RD Block in East Khasi Hills, the women and youth organizations claimed that the former Sordar had misappropriated funds from the MNREGS.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, president of the village Seng Longkmie, P. Kharmukhi, said that in 2011 they had filed an FIR against Diengdoh for illegally withdrawing Rs.1.18 lakh by forging the signature of over 35 job card holders under the MNREGS.
She also claimed that the Mawryngkneng BDO had also filed a separate FIR against the former Sordar for misuse of funds.
“We had also given our statements to the court since the case had been charge sheeted by the police,” she said.
Kharmukhi further said that in 2011 they had filed another FIR against the former Sordar for his alleged involvement in illegal door-to-door collection in the name of availing a Central scheme called ‘Total Sanitation Programme’.
“Diengdoh had collected Rs.300 each from over 86 households in the village with the promise that they would avail the scheme for construction of latrines,” Kharmukhi said quoting the RTI filed with the Dorbar Shnong, and added that when the villagers approached him regarding delay in implementation of the scheme, the former Sordar claimed that the money collected from the villagers had been submitted to the office of the BDO.
However, the BDO denied that any money had been deposited in his office.
Kharmukhi also claimed that in both the cases, Diengdoh had escaped arrest after securing anticipatory bails.
