SHILLONG: The Border Security Force, Meghalaya Frontier, has ordered an inquiry into the death of jawan Ayon Paul who reportedly died in an accidental firing while guarding the border at Dumnikura in Garo Hills.
The BSF PRO on Thursday informed that officers have been directed to conduct the inquiry though no timeline has been set for submission of the report.
The PRO maintained that the jawan had died from an accidental firing.
Friends of the deceased BSF jawan, who hailed from Tripura, have questioned his death and have suspected foul play in the incident.
GNLA militants had triggered an IED blast on NH-51 near Kherapara, 25 km from Tura, attacking a BSF convoy which was transporting the mortal remains of the soldier to his native town.
