Cable network donates money for quake victims in Nepal
Aizawl: Zonet, a local cable network based in Aizawl would hand over Rs 8.79 lakh for earthquake victims in Nepal on Monday. Zonet director R.K. Lianzuala said that the money collected from generous donors would be handed over to the leaders of the Mizo Welfare in Kathmandu today. Different sections of the people in the state donated for the ‘Mizoram for Nepal’ fund amounting to Rs 6. 70 lakh while Rs 2.09 lakh was raised from selling of 14 artworks donated by the Mizoram Art Development Society. All the Mizos, numbering about 50 families living in Nepal were safe when a severe earthquake hit the Himalayan Kingdom recently. (PTI)
Assam Police accountability panel submits report
Guwahati: The Assam Police Accountability Commission presented its annual report to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi here on Monday. The Chairman of the Commission Justice (retd), PK Mushahary, along with its member retired Meghalaya DGP Sibabrata Kakoty, presented the report. Assam DGP Khagen Ch Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary to the CM MGVK Bhanu, Additional DGP Mukesh Agarwal, and Commissioner and Secretary Home, LS Changsan, were also present on the occasion. The Chief Minister, who also holds the Home portfolio, said he would look into the recommendations of the Commission and needful will be done accordingly. (UNI)
New poultry hatchery inaugurated at Tanhril
Aizawl: Mizoram Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister C Ngunlianchunga on Monday inaugurated the INDBRO Poultry Hatchery at Tanhril near Aizawl, a joint venture of an Andhra Pradesh-based poultry giant and the Mizoram Poultry Development Society. The hatchery was established at the cost of Rs 464.50 lakh to produce 41,000 layer, broiler and low input variety (dual purpose) chicks every month. An official statement said the chicks produced in the hatchery would be sold to the poultry farmers at a subsidised rate in order to increase egg and chicken meat production of the state. (PTI)
Marnya Ete is the new secretary edu and library in Arunachal
Itanagar: In a minor bureaucratic reshuffle, the Arunachal Pradesh government has affected inter-departmental transfer of four officers. According to an official order issued by Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi on May 16, Tax and Excise commissioner Marnya Ete has been posted as secretary education and library. Secretary general administration TT Gamdik has been entrusted with additional charge of tax and excise commissioner and secretary, an official release said here on Monday. Water Resource Development (WRD) Secretary Gaken Ete has been posted as Science and Technology and Information Technology secretary. Chief Engineer-cum-chairman of inter-disciplinary disaster management committee Geyum Padu has been appointed as WRD Secretary, the release added. (PTI)
Gogoi thanks people on completing 14 years as CM
Guwahati: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has extended his heartfelt gratitude to the people of Assam on the completion of fourth year of third consecutive term in office today. In a statement here, Mr Gogoi said the state has witnessed a major transformation in different sectors during the past 14 years due to the unstinted support and cooperation of the people. The state government has initiated a slew of development schemes and programmes for ensuring all-round development of the state and the welfare of its citizens. Its motto has been all along serving the poor and downtrodden segments of the society. Added thrust has been given on augmenting production and in raising the income of all sections of society. Gogoi said topmost priorities have been accorded to infrastructure development, agriculture and allied sectors, education, strengthening surface communication, sports, culture, information technology, power, industries and commerce, trade and commerce. Besides focusing on welfare of women and children, a slew of initiatives have been taken for the overall development of the youths. (UNI)
Tuki approves three months salary for DRDA employees
Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Monday approved the release of three months salaries for the employees of district rural development agencies (DRDAs). Tuki, during a meeting convened with state chief secretary, Rural Development (RD) commissioner and director of the department approved the release of Rs 718.86 lakh against salaries for the month of January to March last, an official release said. The Chief Minister said undue delay of the payment of salaries to the DRDA employees was due to late and non-submission of full utilisation certificates by a few DRDAs to the Centre and carrying forward of previous year’s backlog. Regarding absorption of DRDA employees in the line department, Tuki said as per DRDA guidelines, the employees were to be drawn on deputation or on contractual basis, the release said. “It will take some more time to streamline the issue with line departments,” he said. Tuki also informed that the state government has extended the sixth central pay commission benefits to the employees of DRDA. (PTI)
