Kingston: West Indies batsman Andre Fletcher has been reportedly arrested at the Douglas Charles airport in Dominica for possessing ammunitions.
According to Dominica News Online (DNO), Fletcher, 27, was practising with the Windward Islands team and was about to leave the country, when he was arrested.
Windward Islands manager Lockhart Sebastian said that he was aware of the arrest, according to the TV report.
“I will support him, I will not abandon him … that is the job of a manager,” Sebastian was quoted as saying by DNO.
A solid top-order batsman, the Grenada-born Fletcher has just played 15 ODIs and 22 Twenty20 internationals for the Caribbean side since his debut in 2008.
Coming in at number four, FLetcher managed just 2 runs in his last appearance for WI in a T20 against SOuth Africa in Durban in January. (PTI)
