Meghalaya Karatekas to take part in 8th Commonwealth Karate Championship
Shillong: Two Karatekas of All Meghalaya Karate – Do Association, Raphael S Sunn and Barisha Kharbani has been selected by the Karate Association of India to participate in the coming 8th Commonwealth Karate Championship to be held at Talkotara Stadium in New Delhi from September 18 to September 20. Raphael S Sunn will be competing in Men – 50 kg Individual Kumite category and Barisha Kharbani in Junior Girls – 59 kg Kumite category. Meanwhile, nine Karatekas of the Association lead by coaches Donboklang Lyngdoh and Ester Mary and manager Arjun Sewa will be participating in KAI Sub-Junior National cum Selection for 8th Commonwealth Karate Championship to be held at New Delhi on September 17 and the medal winner from this Championship will represent the country in the 8th Commonwealth Karate Championship. The names of the Karatekas are: Gerard A Nongkhlaw, Willyson Kharbhalang, Sadakini Kharteibok, Iza Daphisha Khongwar, Lawandashisha Muttyent, Teiborlang Lapang, Saphibiang Shabong, Daiakyntiew Wahlang and Isadora A Lyngdoh.
North East Sunfeast Cup Football tournament
Guwahati: The first edition of North East Sunfeast Cup Football tournament is set to begin from September 22 at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati. Teams in the age group of U-13 and U-16 can participate in the event and more than 250 teams and 3000 players from different parts of the North East are already registered. The 6 chapter tournament is to be held  at Guwahati, Jorhat, Aizwal, Itanagar, Shillong and Imphal. The last date for registration for Guwahati chapter is September 17, however, due to last minute rush from various clubs; the registration date has been extended till September 19. Sunfeast sponsored the event and it is organized by SPT Sports.
Kam Danda U Rangdajied to organize football tournament
Shillong: The Kam Danda U Rangdajied (KDUR) society for Funster Actors will organize a football tournament (League cum Knock-out) for which the venue and will be notified at a later date. Each team will have to pay an entrance fee of Rs. 1000 and the last date for registering is September 30. The participants should be of 40 years or above and may choose their own group of players who should be residents of Shillong or its outskirts only.
