City journo laid to rest

SHILLONG: City-based journalist Kenny Warjri, who died in a tragic incident in Assam on Sunday, was laid to rest on Tuesday.
Warjri was cremated at the Mawkhar Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Lawmali. People from different walks of life attended the funeral procession.
Born on February 8, 1985, Warjri was associated with Ri-Khasi Channel and later with PCN cable news channel and was actively engaged in discharging his duties till his last hour.
Family members, relatives, friends and media persons bid a tearful adieu to Warjri who lost his life while proceeding to Garo Hills to cover the GHADC elections.
Home Minister Roshan Warjri, UDP MLA Paul Lyngdoh and other officials also attended the funeral.
The UDP, meanwhile, conveyed its condolences to the family members of late Warjri and also to members of the press fraternity, over his tragic and untimely demise.
The party also prayed to God to grant the bereaved the strength and solace to tide over the loss.
