Nov 5 mayhem

SHILLONG: No arrest has been made yet in connection with the violent incidents in the city on November 5 during the rally sponsored by Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep.
A senior police official on Sunday said investigations were on to identify those involved in the mayhem.
Earlier, IGP (law and order) G.H.P. Raju had claimed that some ‘drunken’ HYC members had instigated the crowd leading to the mayhem.
A day after the rally, unidentified miscreants had set on fire hay stacks belonging to two persons at Langkyrding, Nongmynsong.
Police are yet to ascertain whether the stray incident have any links with the November 5 rally.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Section Superintendent, ASTC has filed an FIR against the damage to the windshield of an ASTC bus (AS-20-1650) near Rhino Point, perpetrated by a section of the crowd.
