SHILLONG: The integrity of Latho Manik Syiem, Syiem of Hima Mylliem, has come under the scanner with as many as 28 Myntri out of a total of 44 have demanded his immediate removal.
The aggrieved Myntri have lodged a complaint with the KHADC against the Syiem of Hima Mylliem, alleging that he was unable to provide financial accounts of the Hima Mylliem.
“The amount of revenue generated from taxes collected from the market as well as the expenditure of the Hima is unknown,” claimed one of the aggrieved Myntri of Hima Mylliem.
“As of now, after filing the written petition to the KHADC, we expect a fair decision from the Executive Committee,” another Myntri said.
The Myntri claimed that the present Syiem has not convened any Hima Dorbar and the various Myntri are unaware of the problems faced by the residents, in violation of the Hima Mylliem Act, 2007 which states that the Hima Dorbar has to be convened once every year.
Expressing concern over the future turn of events another Myntri said, “If there is delay on the part of the Executive Committee to pass judgement, trouble will surface over the plot of land belonging to the Hima.”
The Myntri have urged the KHADC to look into the issue immediately.
