Hamlet’ in Shillong
The Shakespeare Society of East India, Kolkata, is staging Shakespeare’s famous dark tragedy ‘Hamlet’ at U Soso Tham auditorium on Nov 12-13. The play is co-organised by La Societe Litteraire Anglais, Dept. of English and the IQAC, Lady Keane College, Shillong, in collaboration with the Arts and Culture Dept, Meghalaya. School and college students can enjoy the play at 11 am on subsidized tickets while the public can enjoy the play at 6 pm. Tickets will be available at the venue.
Management fest
The Department of Management & Commerce Studies, Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong, is organising a two day Management Fest titled Nova – 2015 on November 12-13 at All Saints’ Hall, IGP Shillong. This Fest is being organised with the objective to offer enriching experiences and assists students in exploring and exhibiting their capabilities in the areas pertaining to management and entrepreneurship.
Legal services day
The District Legal Services Authority, South West Khasi Hills District, in collaboration with Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, observed the Legal Services Day on Monday. Deputy Commissioner R. Lyngdoh, who is also the Chairperson of District Legal Services Authority, Mawkyrwat, was the chief guest. The Legal Services Day was also observed at Tura, West Garo Hills District.
Free medical camps
SPARK, in collaboration with Bansara Eye Care, Shillong, organised a free Cataract camp at Pongkung village on October 14, at Mawlong village on October 28 and at Rangmen village on November 9. A free medical health camp was also organized at Mawlong on November 6 in collaboration with the District Medical Health Office, Shillong. Medicines, spectacles, x-rays and other free services were provided to the patients.
General meeting
The 35th annual general meeting of the Meghalaya Pensioners’ Association will be held on November 12 at the Seminar Hall, State Central Library, from 10 am.
Musical prog cum felicitation
Dishari, a socio cultural organization of R & R Colony, organised a ‘Musical Nite’ as part of Vijaya Sanmelon on November 6. The club members also presented the Kaunaj Memorial Scholarship to six students who had secured the highest marks in English in the SSLC Examination 2015. Local legislator Jemino Mawthoh was present on the occasion.
Annual meeting
The Department of Biomedical Engineering, NEHU, Shillong, will organize 29th annual meeting of Society for Neurochemistry, India: National Workshop and Conference on “Advances on Computational Neurochemistry and Neurobiology” from December 16-21. The workshop will be held in the Auditorium, Old Guest House, NEHU and the conference at Multiuse Convention Hall, NEHU.
Blood donation camp
The NCC, NSS & RRC units of St. Edmund’s College in collaboration with Regional Blood Bank Pasteur, State Blood Transfusion Council, MACS & Blood Bank NEIGRIHMS is organising a voluntary blood donation camp cum awareness programme in the college campus as part of the college week EDBLAZON 2015. Students, teachers and past pupils have been invited to donate blood at the camp.
Pension adalat
Controller of Communication Accounts, Dept. of Telecom, NE Circle, Shillong, is holding a pension adalat for redressal of grievances of DoT/BSNL pensioners on December 8 at the conference hall office of NLUP, Implementing Board, Aizawl, at 11 am. Pensioners may send their grievances to AO, Pension, DoT, Shillong, on or before November 25. Details are also available on helpline no 1800-345-3000.
Dry day
The Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Khasi Hills District, Shillong has declared November 11 as Dry Day throughout the entire District on account of Diwali. All bonded warehouses, IMFL shops, bars, hotels, clubs and out still shops shall remain closed on the day.
