Special train to run between Kamakhya and Pune
SHILLONG: In order to clear the rush of passengers, Northeast Frontier Railway will run 18 pairs of weekly special trains between Kamakhya and Pune. Special train bearing number 02512 will leave Kamakhya every Monday at 23-00 hrs on November 30, December 7, 14, 21, 28, and January 4, 11, 18 and 25 to arrive Pune at 02-45 hrs on Thursday. During return journey special train bearing number 02511 will leave Pune every Thursday at 10-30 hrs o December 3 , 10, 17, 24, 31, January 7, 14, 21 and 28 to arrive Kamakhya at 15-25 hrs on Saturday. The special train will have AC-2 tier, AC-3 tier and sleeper class accommodation. It will run via Goalpara Town, New Coochbehar, New Jalpaiguri, Kishanganj, Malda Town, Rampurhat, Asansol, Purulia, Rourkela, Bilaspur, Raipur, Nagpur, Bhuswal, Nasik, Panvel and Lonavala stations during its journey both ways.
Naga woman gets role model disabled person award
SHILLONG: Diethono de Nakhro–Disability Rights Advocate from Nagaland got the Role Model Disabled Person award among other winners of the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP)-Lemon Tree Hotels Helen Keller Awards 2015 which been announced. In their sixteenth year now, the awards have not only led to a recognition of the exceptional work being done by corporates, NGOs and individuals, but have also emerged as a credible way to map the progress being made year by year towards greater dignity and empowerment of India’s 70 million disabled citizens. Ten awards have been announced under three different categories. Among the exceptional individuals and organizations selected this year for having established themselves as role models in furthering employment for persons with disabilities are: Category A: Role Model Disabled Person: Disabled persons from within the disability sector and outside who have been active as ambassadors of the cause of employment for disabled people and are a positive role model for others It was under this category that Nakhro from Nagaland was awarded.
42-year-man convicted for abetting daughter to suicide
Agartala: The District and Sessions Judge of South Tripura convicted a person on Friday for abetment to suicide and sentenced him to four years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1000. Police said the accused Sachindra Tripura (42), a resident of East Takka Tulshi in Belonia was arrested in October 2014 based on the complaint of his wife Malati Tripura (37) Sachindra was arrested under section 306 of the IPC. According to police convicted Sachindra had been torturing his 16-years-old daughter Usha after intoxication. The matter was reported to police by her mother and a few days after Usha committed suicide without getting any relief. After completion of investigation police had framed charges against the accused. (UNI)
