TURA: The extreme delay in disbursement of Post Matric Scholarship for 2012-13 to students in West Garo Hills has led the A’chik Students’ Welfare Association (ASWA) to seek the intervention of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma through a letter.
Earlier, a letter was submitted to the Director of Higher and Technical Education appealing for the release of the scholarship for 2012-13 as well as for 2014-15 which has also been pending.
The association had also sought the simplification of the procedure to apply for the scholarship which however has instead been made even harder than before as claimed by the association.
“The students of West Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills are yet to receive the scholarships although students from other parts of the State have already received the same. We urge the chief minister to kindly look into the matter and also to facilitate the simplification of the application procedure as students in Garo Hills are facing problems due to its complexity,” the ASWA said in its letter to the chief minister.
