SHILLONG: The UDP has criticized the State Government for recommending another nominated member to KHADC at a time when the KHADC had already forwarded the name of a non-political person, former KHADC Judge J Reenbohn to fill up the vacant post.
The Congress-led government had forwarded the name of ex-MDC Irene Lyngdoh for the nod of the Governor bypassing the resolution adopted by KHADC to appoint Reenbohn.
Commenting on the development, the working president of UDP Paul Lyngdoh said on Monday that the party has expressed surprise over the state government coming out with its own choice against that of KHADC.
He added that the party was in favour of Reenbohn, a non- political person with judicial background as recommended by the KHADC.
The UDP also urged the Governor to act in consistency with the resolution adopted by KHADC regarding the nominated member.
