SHILLONG: South West Garo Hills Police is still clueless about the identity of the miscreants responsible for the death of an eight-year-old girl whose body was recovered from Belbari under the Monabari outpost in the district.
South West Garo Hills SP, Aditya Goenka said that though police teams have gone to Assam to investigate into the incident, “so far no leads have been found into the incident”.
The body with its limbs severed and an eye gouged out was found by a woman near a garden in Belbari where she had gone to collect firewood two days ago.
The girl had gone missing at around 8 am from near her house at Rangapani under Mankachar police station in Assam on Friday last. Rangapani is around 10 km away from the spot where the body was found. There were apparent signs of violence with her eyes being gouged out and some limbs severed by the unidentified culprits. The SP said that postmortem has been conducted and police is waiting for the FSL report to ascertain if the girl was raped.
