SHILLONG: The opposition to Shibun Lyngdoh’s appointment as BJP’s Meghalaya president has toned down significantly following the intervention of the party high command.
According to sources, Lyngdoh will be felicitated by the party’s Mahila Morcha in the presence of prominent BJP members.
Confirming this, BJP’s state general secretary, Pelcy Snaitang said that as far as Lyngdoh’s appointment was concerned, the party members will cooperate with the high command.
A felicitation programme will also be organised for the newly appointed state party president.
Snaitang also urged other party workers to set aside their differences and gear up for the upcoming general elections in 2018.
Earlier, in the month, the State unit of BJP seemed virtually heading for a split following the ‘arbitrary’ selection of Lyngdoh as its new president.
