SHILLONG: An auditor, who allegedly molested a local woman at MES, was granted bail by a local court on Friday following his arrest after an FIR was filed by the victim in this regard.
Though the police booked SK Rai under various sections of crime against women including sexual offence at work place, women’s organizations cried foul when he was granted bail here on Friday.
The alleged incident took place on January 1 at around 9 am at Headquarter, Chief Engineer, Shillong Zone. The auditor was deputed from the office of Director of Audit Defence Services, Eastern Command, Patna.
Criticizing the manner in which the accused was granted bail, president of Civil Society Women’s Organization, Agnes Kharshiing claimed that there was even an attempt by the accused to go for a compromise with the victim.
The CSWO also wondered as to what led to the “softening of the crime” by the concerned authorities.
