SHILLONG: In what could provide temporary relief to city residents affected by the frequent shortage of LPG cylinders, the Indian Oil Corporation Limited launched 5 kg Free Trade LPG cylinders here on Friday.
Nangkiew Irat Indane Gas Agency organized the launching of the 5kg free trade LPG (FTL) in a function at Police Bazar.
Deputy General Manager (LPG), Jayant Madhav, Chief Area Manager, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Saurav Chaliha, and Proprietor, Nangkiew Irat Indane Gas Agency, Evelynesha Lyngdoh were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Madhav stated that taking into account the present scenario and as advised by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOP&NG), the Oil Marketing Companies have rolled out the selling of 5kg LPG cylinders on FTL basis through company-owned-company-operated (COCO) distributors and highlighted that IOCL would be selling the 5kg cylinders to the distributors, who in turn would place those in the Point of Selling (POS).
“After identification and finalization of POS, a formal agreement will be signed between the POS and the LPG Distributor,” he said.
The Free Trade LPG (FTL) Scheme is targeted at a new category of consumers in cities who are mobile and thus do not want a permanent LPG connection but still require LPG for their needs. Customers like students and small families require the flexibility in getting LPG cylinders as per their convenience, and their needs can be met by smaller quantities.
5 kg cylinders (Equipment+Product) as FTL at non-domestic/commercial rates with/without Domestic Pressure Regulator (DPR) are sold to the customer instead of present policy of giving equipment on loan basis against security deposit.
Once sold, equipment will not be bought back by the POS/Distributor (except for refill purposes). However, sales return due to defective equipment will be treated normally.
On January 23 Indane Nanocut LPG was also launched at Don Bosco, Technical Schoolhere at a function organized by Nangkiew Irat Indane Gas Agency in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
