Hundreds participate in Shillong Cantonment Board mini marathon

SHILLONG: The Shillong Cantonment Board organized a 5 km mini marathon on Sunday in association with IDFC bank.
Over 1000 participants took part in the run which was flagged off by Vice-President, Shillong Cantonment Board, Parasmall Bothra, IDES, Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Cantonment,  Vishwas Sohal and Col. S. Pandey, Adm. Comdt  at 8 am with the males running first and the female participants starting 5 minutes later.
In a statement issued here, the Shillong Cantonment Board said that the event, conducted with the collaborative efforts of the different teams involving the staff of the Cantonment Board along with some volunteers and members of the Board, was a success.
Certificates and medals of participation were distributed to all participants along with prize money.
The Board also thanked the district administration and the police for ensuring law and order and traffic regulation and the SEMO for medical support extended.
They also appreciated the role of “safaiwalas” in the event.
