Ri-Bhoi village felicitates its braveheart

NONGPOH: The Dorbar Shnong of Pahamrioh on Friday felicitated 14-year-old brave heart, Angelica Tynsong who was recently conferred with the National Bravery Award by the Indian Council for Child Welfare. The award was handed over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Tynsong was one of the 24 awardees who were bestowed with the honour ahead of Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.
The minor had risked her life to rescue her seven-month-old baby brother sleeping inside her grandmother’s house which had caught fire. The incident occurred at Pahamrioh village in Ri-Bhoi on February 1, 2015. Local MDC, Rona Khymdeit, Extra Additional Commissioner, Ri-Bhoi, P.K Sangma among others were present in the felicitation programme.
Khymdeit lauded the brave heart for her selfless service and expressed pride that the little girl belonged to the State of Meghalaya.
