Training on life support held

SHILLONG: The Emergency Medicine Learning Centre of GVK EMRI in collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) organized a two day training programme on Advance Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) on February 9 and 10 and a one day Basic Life Support in Obstetrics (BLSO) on February 11 at the conference room of Tura Civil Hospital, Tura, West Garo Hills for the Doctors and Nurses of the five districts of Garo Hills.
The training was carried out in the presence of faculty from AAFP including  Dr. Sajjini Thomas, MD, Associate Director and Obstetric coordinator Resurrection Medical Centre, Chicago, USA, Dr. Mayank K. Shah, MD, Medical Director, PHP Clinical Director, PRMC Family Medicine Centre, Chicago, USA and Dr. Padmasri Ayyagari, DGO, MRCOG, MBA, Consultant at Al Salam International Hospital, Kuwait.
Advance Life Support in Obstetrics is an evidence-based multidisciplinary training programme that prepares maternity health care providers to better manage obstetric emergencies.
It’s  evidence-based learning path bridges knowledge gaps and boosts skill sets using a team-based approach, hands-on training, and mnemonics to reduce errors and save lives.
A total of forty doctors and thirty nurses from the five districts of Garo Hills were trained.
