NSS bats for Digital India in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: 226 enthusiastic college students converged at the picturesque North Eastern Hill University campus, Shillong to attend a workshop on Digital India on Thursday.
The students are NSS (National Service Scheme) volunteers who came here from colleges in Shillong, Tura, Khliehriat, Mawkyrwat amongst others including students of NEHU & NEIGHRIMS.
Prof. Krishna Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor of NEHU, inaugurated the workshop.
The objective of the workshop was to generate and enhance awareness about Digital India programme whose vision is to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge based economy through the use of Information Technology.
The training was imparted to the NSS volunteers on the fundamentals of the Digital India programme and to make them aware about the existinge-Governance services that are available to the citizens.
This enthusiastic pool of trained students will be leveraged to spread awareness about the Digital India activities amongst students and common citizens especially those living in the villages of the state.
