SHILLONG: The Reserve Bank of India, Shillong on Monday organised a field level financial awareness programme at Moosakhia Village under Amlarem Sub-Division, West Jaintia Hills District.
The main objective of the programme was to create awareness among the people about the financial institutions through which they can avail assistance to fulfill their various financial needs and also to encourage thrift by availing various investment schemes that banks offer.
Different sub-divisional banks namely SBI, MCAB and NABARD were represented by their respective senior officials who interacted and imparted valuable financial knowledge to the participating villagers. Villagers were also educated about various fraudulent financial institutions and warned not to fall prey to them. The faculty and students of BSW from Women’s College Shillong and the Society for Urban and Rural Empowerment also assisted in their various capacities to hold this event.
