CM hopeful of reviving MCCL

SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has expressed hope that the financial assistance of Rs 80 crore will help revive the sick PSU, Mawmluh Cherra Cement Limited (MCCL).
While replying to a motion moved by UDP MLA Titos Chyne in the Assembly on Thursday regarding the status of unemployment in the state, the Chief Minister said that there is hope for the  youth to be employed with this plant.
It may be mentioned that Rs 80 crore was provided to MCCL with a rider that the proposal of voluntary retirement scheme for the employees would be executed and the fund provided by the Government would be utilized in payment of pending salaries, unpaid power dues and various cess, besides settling the one-time principal and interest of the bank loan which MCCL had taken earlier.
