Couple falsely accused of witchcraft, daughter seeks justice

SHILLONG: A couple alleged of practicing witchcraft in Garo Hills forced to flee from the village for two years.
Meanwhile, the daughter of the couple has filed an FIR against 14 people including Jonen R Marak, Brucelee Sangma, Altu B Marak, Bolwen Sangma, Binod Sangma, Prai Marak, Petrol Sangma, Rojendro Marak, Garnet Sangma, Sibal Sangma, Satsing Sangma, Belbong Sangma, Alnek Marak, Elnet Marak and others
The incident happened on August 9 2013 when a group of people in Rongbakgre village under Rongram in West Garo hills accused a couple Genchang Sangma and Sapjak Sangma of practicing witchcraft and even assaulted them and set their house on fire
Loss of property was estimated at about Rs. 1,50,000
Following this incident, her parents fled to Nangalbibra Rongsa Awe village where they have been staying for the last two years. In the FIR, she said that   the accused people held a meeting in the house of Elnet Marak at Rongbakgre village and accused her parents of practicing witchcraft.
